The latest rates proposed by Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) came into impact at midnight today (February 16) and will stay in put until February 29.
Independently, the caretaker government had greenlit a 67% increment in gas costs, successfully burdening customers with higher costs of living beginning from February 1.
The choice, affirmed in a reunion of the government cabinet driven by caretaker Prime minister Anwarul Haq Kakar, takes after the proposal of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) to raise gas costs by an amazing 67%. This sharp climb in rates will apply to both secured and non-protected clients, deciphering to a surge of Rs100 and Rs300 per MMBTU (million British thermal units), respectively.
Outstandingly, whereas the increment will apply to utilization charges, there will be no increment in settled charges for both categories of users. Be that as it may, bulk gas buyers will bear the brunt of a critical surge, confronting a whopping increment of Rs900 per MMBTU.
